Undiscovered Voices: Pinch Me! It’s for real!

While I still write for adults and young adults, you may have noticed that I haven’t put out much over the past couple years.  Well, I’ve been trying my hand at writing for younger children.

It started when I was reading chapter books with my youngest daughter before bedtime.  Living in a part of Switzerland where French is the official language, I was lost as to what books to get her in English.  I needed guidance and a community of people who were familiar with children’s literature.  So, I joined SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators). SCBWI opened me to a world of amazing books for kids…and to amazing authors of kids’ books.

The Undiscovered Voices anthology bring together “undiscovered” talent of SCBWI British Isles and Europe. Writers submit their work and the UV team and judges select a shortlist of writers and illustrators for the anthology.  Already, the talent of the authors on the longlist is stellar.  The anthology? Just fantastic. Somehow my lucky stars aligned and the extract from my children’s chapter book, Kelsie Carter and the Evil Chihuahua Army is in there!  I’m still reeling. I am so humbled to see my work next to the others in the anthology.  Read them and you’ll see why.

You can download the anthology for free HERE.  And I guarantee you’ll discover some amazing voices. I did. And I am (impatiently) waiting to hear more from them.
